About this policy

Lantern Shoals is a calm navigation puzzle game. This policy explains information handling in the app and on this policy website. Graham Luxford publishes the game. Apple and Google also process information when their services are used, as described below.

Accounts and game data

There is no game account, publisher-operated backend or in-game cloud-save service. Local data includes campaign progress, seals and best results, completion counts, daily crossing records, your current voyage and undo history, onboarding choices, and audio, motion, haptic and appearance preferences. Advertising preferences and SDK consent state may also be stored locally.

The game keeps a recovery copy of its save and up to 90 daily crossing records. Internal test editions may store a local marker to prevent a one-shot test advert repeating. These records are not uploaded to a game server. Normal Apple device backups may include app data according to your device settings.

Google advertising and diagnostics

The free iPhone and iPad edition supports Google AdMob banners on menu/chart/results screens and occasional full-screen adverts at successful voyage transitions. Adverts do not appear on the active puzzle board. TestFlight editions may use Google's test adverts or production advertising, depending on the build.

When Google's services are used, its SDK may process IP/network information (including an approximate location inferred from IP address), device or app identifiers, advertising information and interactions, crash reports and performance diagnostics. Availability of advertising identifiers depends on platform permissions and settings. Google uses these categories for ad delivery and measurement, analytics, service operation and improvement. Test adverts should not be understood to mean no SDK data is processed.

The current app requests non-personalised adverts, disables Google's publisher first-party ID feature and does not request Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission. Non-personalised adverts can still involve data processing. The game does not request precise location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera access.

There is no separate publisher-operated analytics or crash-reporting SDK. Google's advertising SDK has its own diagnostic capabilities. Apple may provide crash or TestFlight feedback information under its services and your applicable sharing settings.

The app integrates Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain and manage applicable privacy choices. Depending on your region and the available consent message, you may be asked to review these choices. Production advertising is subject to the app's consent checks; the current app does not request personalised adverts.

Use the in-game Advertising choices / Review advertising choices control to revisit available options. You can also choose Decline advertising and continue playing. Earlier internal TestFlight builds used a separate route for official Google test adverts; this did not grant consent for personalised advertising. Current production-configured builds have no test-ad consent exception and require UMP permission before requesting adverts.

Remove Ads and Apple purchases

Remove Ads is an optional one-time, non-consumable purchase processed by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. The app receives product, transaction and entitlement information needed to offer, verify and restore the purchase. Lantern Shoals does not receive your payment-card details.

A verified Remove Ads entitlement disables automatic banners and interstitials. Use Restore Purchases with the Apple Account used for the purchase if needed. Deleting the app does not delete Apple's purchase record. Removing adverts does not erase information already processed by Apple or Google.

Apple and Google

These providers handle information under their own policies, including their retention and international processing arrangements. Please see:

The app does not upload your local voyage save to these services. Advertising-related processing is described above; this policy does not make a blanket claim that no data is collected, shared or processed for advertising.

Your choices and retention

Local progress and preferences remain until replaced or removed with app data. The publisher does not hold a server copy of your voyage save. Apple and Google retain information according to their policies; uninstalling cannot guarantee deletion from their systems. Their privacy pages explain available access and deletion controls.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, withdraw consent, restrict or object to processing, or complain to your local data-protection authority. Use the contact route below for questions about information handled by the publisher, and provider privacy controls for information they handle.

Children and families

Lantern Shoals is a general-audience puzzle game, not a product specifically directed at children or configured for Apple's Kids Category. Parents and guardians can use Apple's device and purchase controls. If you have a concern about a child's information, please raise a general privacy enquiry below without posting the child's personal details.

Security

Game saves use the device's app storage, and the app uses Apple's and Google's SDKs for their respective services. This website uses HTTPS. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

Issues are public and posting requires a GitHub account. Do not post passwords, payment details, purchase receipts, addresses, private identifiers or other sensitive information. Start with a general description of your question. For a game problem, include only the app version and a non-sensitive description.

Information you choose to post, including your GitHub username, is visible publicly and is used to respond to your enquiry. GitHub hosts and retains issues under its policies; avoid sharing personal information that would need confidential handling.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the app or its services change. The latest version will remain at this address and the “Last updated” date will be revised.
